The map table in the EnspMapDB stores the mapping between protein accession numbers and their description.
This table is only updated during system maintenance, such as for the inclusion of new accession numbers or revised descriptions.
Columns:
- pid: the unique identifier for a single label-to-description mapping.
- label: the accession number.
- description: the short description of the protein.
- db: the species (and possibly the naming convention) to which this label applies; e.g., "Gallus gallus" or "Homo sapiens - ensembl".
